Ezaki Satoshi is the second emerging designer selected within the “Istituto Marangoni Scholarship – Supported by THE FASHION POST” initiative, launched by Istituto Marangoni and the Japan Fashion Week Organization to foster and support young designers in Japan. Regarded as one of the most interesting emerging talents in Japan’s fashion scene, Ezaki Satoshi has always had a particular eye for leather goods, and proudly admits he has learned leather craft through self-education, collaborating with hand-sewing factories and self-made productions in the field of leather goods. He graduated from Bunka Fashion College, Tokyo, and then worked for an apparel company for two years before starting his own brand in 2009. His latest achievement is the election as a participant in the second round of the designer study abroad programme with Istituto Marangoni. Ezaki attended a month-long special programme free of charge at the Istituto Marangoni Milano The School Of Fashion and majored in a Fashion Production course which allowed him to learn everything from tailoring marketing and merchandising. During his stay, he used his free time to visit boutiques and antique shops in Milano, and of course he visited Firenze to experience the city’s historic leather industry first-hand. This period in Italy has led him towards the aim to extend his knowledge from leather to include new techniques and materials and connect it to his own manufacturing, always striving for a careful product and the utmost attention to detail.
