Few designers today have the luxury of creating their own vision with no input from others. If they want to attract and delight customers with their work, they need to understand the market for whom they design.
This is why, when designing a product, it is imperative not to work in a vacuum. You can create the most exquisite object and still find it fails at market. You need to take a bigger picture. You need to find your product’s niche, its opening. You have to evaluate the competition, you have to research its target, you have to communicate its values. In essence, you have to show “the reasons why” of your project. This master course starts with understanding the dynamics and trends of our lifestyles, our onsumption and our perceptions. Then we focus on identifying “new” needs and how to integrate creative and production issues into a broader vision of management and corporate strategy. After this, you are required to adapt a product’s uses and functions as well as how to define the quality of interaction between products and space. Finally, you will reflect your new way of managing creativity, research, function and business in one single “design object”.
