Fashion and Pattern Making Semester
In response to a significant industry need, this course provides intensive and specialised training for potential as well as practicing pattern cutters and designers, with a need to consolidate their knowledge and experience.
During this course participants learn how to translate innovative designs into finished garments through practical workshops on design and construction techniques, guided by highly experienced pattern makers in couture and pret-a-porter fashion.
The aim of the course is to help students develop a creative problem-solving attitude and practical skills required to pattern cutters today: it is thought for fashion design students interested in specialising in the area, as well as industry practitioners looking to up-skill or refresh their knowledge.
Become a skilled patternmaker with the ability to work on experimental projects, propose new ideas and models within the fashion design and construction process, and create patterns with precision and expertise.
Through practical work carried in both manual and digital pattern making methods for womenswear and menswear, participants also experience focused workshops in collaboration with highly skilled professional patternmakers and designers from the luxury fashion brand Ermanno Scervino. The course investigates creative problem solving and innovative creative pattern cutting skills, as well as incorporating new technology such as Clo3D and sustainable approaches to garment construction.
The overall aim of the course is to build on participants previous fashion design knowledge in order to unlock their potential in pattern cutting skills, along with providing a supportive postgraduate learning environment for personal and professional career development in this exciting industry.
