Highlights

The Fashion Design & Cruise Collection is a summer experience program which gives participants the opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding behind the designing of a cruise collection for an existing brand. Personal learning is accomplished by exploring how creative ideas are formulated and communicated to a specific target audience, in addition to the importance of the creative considerations of the designer’s role.

The course is offered to participants of two different levels: introductory and advanced. The introductory level is offered to students who have no design skills but would like to understand how to create a cruise collection.The advanced level is offered to current students who already have skills and knowledge in fashion design and garment construction.

INTRODUCTORY LEVEL

Week 1: the objective of the week is to expand individual skills by exploring an introduction to drawing and design techniques used in fashion design followed by an analysis of the brand and the principles of developing a cruise fashion collection for the brand. Learning will consist of the study of silhouette, color palettes, the appropriate use of fabrics and the designing of a mini cruise collection.

Week 2: the objective of the second week is to seek an understanding of creative research and how to use personal inspiration to develop silhouettes and co-ordinate outfits, using color and fabric culminating in designing a cruise collection.

Week 3: Participants put into practice the acquired knowledge and prepare a presentation of their work while also creating one garment from the mini cruise collection.

ADVANCED LEVEL

Week 1: the objective of the week is to expand individual skills by exploring design techniques used in fashion design followed by an analysis of the brand and the principles of developing a cruise fashion collection for the brand. Learning will consist of the study of trends, silhouettes, color palettes, the appropriate use of fabrics and the designing of a mini cruise collection for a specific target market.

Week 2: the objective of the second week is to explore the creative research and use inspiration to develop silhouettes, using color and fabric and co-ordinate outfits specific for the brand culminating in the designing of a mini cruise collection.

Week 3: Participants will put into practice the acquired knowledge and prepare a presentation of their work while also creating one look from the mini cruise collection.
