ISTITUTO MARANGONI LONDON HOSTS AN EXCLUSIVE TALK WITH RANKIN

Join us for a special talk with Rankin—the internationally acclaimed British photographer, publisher, and film director whose trail‑blazing career has reshaped contemporary visual culture.

Rankin (born John Rankin Waddell) is best known for creating some of the most iconic portraits of our time and for founding the game‑changing magazine Dazed & Confused with Jefferson Hack, as well as the influential culture platform Hunger. His work spans portraiture, fashion, documentary, film, and major global campaigns, featuring subjects such as The Queen, David Bowie, Kate Moss, Zendaya, and Kendall Jenner, alongside brand collaborations with Rolls‑Royce, Unilever, L’Oréal, Lego, and more.

This exclusive event will take place in the open space of Istituto Marangoni London, offering a rare opportunity to hear Rankin discuss his creative journey—from co‑founding one of the most influential magazines in fashion culture to crafting rule‑breaking campaigns and shaping visual storytelling for over three decades.

After years of valuable collaboration, Istituto Marangoni has teamed up with Cartier for the first extraordinary cross-campus student challenge.

This unique contest brought together over 300 talented students from 6 IM Schools across Paris, Shanghai, Dubai, London, Milan and Mumbai, to reflect on the theme: "Heritage and the New Generation: Reimagining Cartier’s Legacy for a global new generation audience.“

Throughout the project, students had the opportunity to meet and receive guidance from Cartier’s regional teams. The 12 best projects were then presented to a global jury of selected members of the Cartier’s leadership team, including the SVP Chief Marketing Officer, and showcased diverse creative proposals, leveraging various mediums and cross-cultural lenses.

We are pleased to announce the winning project “The Red Atelier” from the Paris campus, and the runner-up “Love needs Actions” from the Shanghai campus. We thank all participants of this challenge for their dedication and contributions.
