LEARNING FOCUS

Week 1

During the first week participants are introduced to the various softwares and tools that will be used during the course, with a particular focus on four different areas: graphic drawing, layers, transformations and collaging. They are trained on the use of digital illustration in fashion design with an in-depth teaching of sketching techniques to define the human body and its movement in both flat and 3D dimension. At the end of the week, participants are able to fast sketch different model bodies in a range of fashion poses that serve as the starting point for the creation of their design collection.

Week 2

During the second week participants are guided and encouraged to sketch a variety of garments and accessories that are the fundamentals of their collection. They are shown key issues in how to put together a collection range and consider materials suitable for use in their own designs. During this week focus is placed on assembling a body of work that includes colour illustrations, basic mood boards or sketch books, and creative supporting data.

Week 3

During the third week participants finalise their shapes and silhouettes and prepare for the final development of the collection: they experiment with color combinations, fabrics, materials and textures. They are guided by the tutor in the selection process of their final outfit to be able to create a professional and fully digital illustrated capsule collection and their Portfolio. At the end of the course individual work is presented to tutors for the final feedback on the activities carried out during the course
