Milano Design Week 2024

During Milan Design Week 2024, students from the School of Design will design exclusive installations and exhibitions in collaboration with leading brands such as Poltrona Frau, Cappellini, Ikea, Technogym, Samsung and Outpump.

For this 62nd edition of the Salone del Mobile, the Milan School of Design presents the 'Sublime Living' concept: evidence of how students are already becoming the designers of tomorrow, taking up the challenge of designing the physical world in the era of mixed reality.

In a moment when the debate on Artificial Intelligence is as relevant and controversial as ever, our designers are using new technologies to redesign a reality that will include - indeed, already includes - the digital one, with the aim of helping all of us to better experience the extension of the physical world.

The exhibitions and presentations designed by the School in collaboration with internationally renowned brands in the industry fit into this context.

The programme also includes two Talks on the future of Design Schools and the opportunities in this industry:

  • THE ROLE OF EDUCATION IN DESIGN FUTURE | 17.04.24 
    FLA Flavio Lucchini Art Museum @SuperStudio Più 
    Sergio Nava - Istituto Marangoni, Caterina Rivadossi Rineno - Bocconi University, Niklas Jacob - Savannah College of Art and Design (USA) and Victor Strandgren - JÖNKÖPING UNIVERSITY (SWE) will discuss the role, activities and experiences of schools today and in the future.
  • DESIGN WAY: EXPLORING THE FUTURE, ITALIAN AND CHINESE PERSPECTIVES | 18.04.24
    ISTITUTO MARANGONI MILANO & SHENZHEN  
    Giulio Cappellini, Elena Salmistraro, Francesca Lanzavecchia and Arturo Tedeschi, and Oliver Hou - President of Shenzhen Creative Week in conversation about global trends in home furniture and AI opportunities in design.

At the end of this journey through the latest design trends, a special event is planned at the Via Cerva campus, the Sublime Living Party, with a DJ set by internationally renowned sound designer Chiara Luzzana.

Istituto Marangoni year after year renews its relationship with the industry, giving its students the opportunity to get involved and develop projects with the most relevant brands of the moment.

MIXED REALITY LIVING

The students of the MA Interior Design and Interior Contract Design designed the home in the age of mixed reality for Poltrona Frau, showing how physical spaces are transformed to integrate the digital dimension.
