The Fashion Show 2020 of Istituto Marangoni Firenze will be digital only, with a completely new format, in order to present a School where Art and Fashion are studied as a form of contemporary luxury, between craftsmanship and technological innovation, between what is real and what is virtual, past and future, darkness and light.
Today more than ever, artisanship and tradition demand to be associated with experimentation, avant-garde movements, and technological innovation. In a city like Florence, facing the everlasting beauty and the level of perfection reached by the Renaissance, the past can be either a limit or an inspiration, that propels new interpretations of Art and Fashion into the future. Istituto Marangoni Firenze follows the second path, fusing within its own identity concepts that might appear conflicting.
Istituto Marangoni Firenze wants to create a suspended world where time, gravity and perspective are free, there are no rules of time and space dimensions. Through a series of flashbacks, the past and the future meet, the gestures turn into a dance, the real collides with the artificial, as time expands and contracts, canceling the classic time.
The Fashion Show is filmed entirely in studio, and the final result of the project is therefore a video featuring the collection of ten students of the Fashion Design course, selected during the fitting phase by an authoritative Jury, who carefully selected the 10 best projects. Each of them presented four outfits, the result of a deep research and experimentation carried out during their three-year course ended with the implementation of projects with a visionary and focused approach on the latest trend.
Xue Chen, Andrea Cirillo, Roberta Gracholski, Riccardo Ricci, Wanling Tang, Sofia Yang, Xinyue You, Elena Zhang and Youting Zhao are the names selected by the Jury and who will see their own outfits shown in the Fashion Movie.
Transmission is visible from 15th October 6PM, hosted by the House of Istituto Marangoni, a digital platform developed in partnership with Vogue Italia, an online space thought to celebrate the 85th anniversary of Istituto Marangoni and which will feature the best projects of different areas of the nine schools of the Group.
