Istituto Marangoni enters the global Top 50 in Art & Design in the QS Rankings 2026, marking a major leap from its previous Top 100.
Istituto Marangoni was founded in 1935 in Milano as ‘Istituto Artistico dell’Abbigliamento Marangoni’ and in 2020 it reaches a special milestone, 85 years of history and success in training the top professionals of Fashion and Design.
Istituto Marangoni can praise itself for the education of four generations of students from 5 continents and for having launched over 45,000 professionals in fashion and luxury fields, such as Domenico Dolce, Franco Moschino, Alessandro Sartori, Maurizio Pecoraro, Paula Cademartori, Andrea Pompilio and Lucio Vanotti.
It currently educates more than 4,000 students per year from 107 countries at its schools, located in Milano (the School of Fashion and the School of Design), Firenze (School of Fashion & Art), Paris, London, Dubai, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Mumbai and Miami, the international capitals of fashion, design and luxury.
Interior Design courses at Istituto Marangoni blend trends, industry developments, project management, function and contemporary style. Learners work on design or renovation projects that span residential, commercial or leisure sites. Along with furnishings, lighting and colour, they learn how to mix atmospheres, culture, and a creative vision, with an eye to user experience and sustainability.
Product Design courses combine heritage, craftsmanship and creativity with manual and digital skills to develop luxury furniture, bespoke or one-off items. Along with technical drawing, 3D modelling, and prototype development on CAD, participants investigate the influence of Italian style on design, the use of sustainable materials and renewable resources, and new manufacturing processes.
Visual Communication Design courses address consumer demands and real-world case studies for industry-ready designers. Learners work on video animation, interaction and motion graphics to promote a vision, product or event in today’s arena. They analyse new consumer habits, phygital retail and the latest digital tools to reach today’s “bicultural consumers”, blending digital features with in-store experiences.
Design Innovation combines creativity and technology, guiding students in the use of advanced tools such as AI, VR, AR, XR, 3D printing, robotics and generative design to develop innovative products and experiences. These technologies become an integral part of the design process, expanding the designer’s creative vision and fostering innovation in design for the luxury sector, where aesthetics, exclusivity and innovation come together.
In occasion of Design Week 2025, the Milan Design school presents Seamless Singularities, a concept that explores new interconnections between physical and digital, tradition and experimentation through six projects, developed by design students in partnership with Baleri Italia, Cappellini, SMEG, Lenovo and Rivatelier.
