Graduate Fashion Week (GFW) is the world's largest showcase for fashion graduates. Entering its 23rd year, GWF remains an unrivalled platform for the promotion of new fashion talents. The event has featured 22 catwalk shows, exhibitions from over 40 international universities and the acclaimed Gala Award Show. As well as exhibiting our graduates’ work, the event was filled with exciting activities and opportunities including talks with industry leaders, live photo studio, digital cinema and pop-up events. This year, Istituto Marangoni’s Fashion Design students opened the event with the catwalk show on Saturday 31st May, 11:30 am. The event took place at the stunning Truman Brewery, in the heart of London’s creative district, located a five minutes walk from our London Fashion school. Istituto Marangoni also welcomed GFW guests to visit the fashion school’s dedicated show stand. Visitors to the stand have also talked to current IM students, tutors and admission staff. Ginevra Menon wins Diversity NOW! 2014 London · Graduate Fashion Week · 5^th June 2014, Diversity NOW! Contest: the winner is Ginevra Saraswathi Menon, from Istituto Marangoni London. Her “Last Look” convinced the jury resulting as the utmost celebration of individuality this year. Final year student in Fashion Styling at Istituto Marangoni London, Ginevra won the prestigious Diversity NOW! 2014 competition for the Photography and Styling category, but she was also the winner of the Overall Winner Award for the best project amid all the competing categories. Diversity NOW! is a national student competition created by All Walks Beyond the Catwalk in association with i-D Magazine to promote and hold up the use of fashion for positive change. The initiative was sponsored by Succeed Foundation and supported by Graduate Fashion Week and Arts Thread. The participants were selected among 30 colleges and universities nationwide to find the representatives of the next generation of talents, from design, film, photography and journalism. Menon presented a project about diversity and the celebration of its beauty. She was inspired by a series of images called No Seconds by the photographer Henry Hargreaves, that told the story of men and women who had been sentenced to death by the United States of America and their last meal, to have an idea of ‘what would be your last look if you only had one chance’ Monica Cattorini, London Campus Director, commented on our student’s achievement: “We are delighted and proud of these prestigious awards, which celebrate our students' hard work. Major acknowledgements of what Istituto Marangoni has always set itself to achieve, providing its students with the most appropriate tools to express themselves creatively and continue to develop new talents”.
