The Istituto Marangoni Advisory Committee Meets in Miami
Miami saw the annual meeting of IMAC – Istituto Marangoni Advisory Committee, made up of prominent fashion, design, and art representatives, called to elaborate the strategies for the development of the educational offer at Istituto Marangoni.
Istituto Marangoni's management was represented by Roberto Riccio and Giulia Pirovano, respectively Group Managing Director and Group Market Director, and by Hakan Baykam, President and CEO of Istituto Marangoni Miami, the new school to be inaugurated in the near future. Other members included Giampietro Baudo, editor of Milano Finanza Fashion; the strategic consultant Alessandro Cremonesi; Gianluca Fontani, president of the Italo-American Chamber of Commerce in Miami; Marva Griffin, founder and curator of SaloneSatellite at the Milan Salone del Mobile; Diego Stecchi, Managing Partner of Luxury Retail Partners; the designer Maurizio Pecoraro; the artist Paola Pivi; and Massimo Torrigiani, director of the Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea di Bari and creative director of Art in The City Shanghai.
They debated on the theme “Fashion and the New America: Art Basel as an outpost of the exchange and contamination of ideas in fashion, contemporary art, video, and design”. Today, the value of contamination can indeed be the lynchpin of self expression for emerging talented individuals. To favour it, Istituto Marangoni's academic offer devotes attention to both the global and the local reality. At the same time, the importance of avoiding the de-personalization of creativity, and the issue of the original/copy dualism, were pointed out as inherent risks of the contamination process.
