Sasha Nassar, who represented Istituto Marangoni Paris at the June 3rd international fashion show of the 2013 London Graduate Fashion Week, has been named the winner of the International Womenswear Prize: a production contract with MUUSE. In collaboration with MUUSE Sasha will develop a collection to be showcased at fashion scout at London and Paris ss14 fashion weeks. Sasha impressed with her défilé named “personal spring” press and industry representatives who attended the catwalk as her collection stood up for an unexpected touch of originality and naiveté through which she expressed a personal journey from a see-through burka to a sensual lace dress in 6 outfits. The judges panel was captivated with the investigation of contemporary cultural conflicts that Sasha played with veiling and unveiling, muslim and European motifs. Among the judges, spokespersons and personalities involved in the event this year there are Nick Knight, Suzy Menkes, Hilary Alexander, Colin McDowell, Sara Maino (Vogue Italy), Cathy Edwards (Dazed), Mary Katrantzou, Zandra Rhodes, Todd Lynn, David Gandy, Julien Macdonald, Matthew Williamson, James Long, Holly Fulton, Eudon Choi, Emilia Wickstead, Fred Butler, Georgina Goodman, Imran Ahmed (Business of Fashion), Melissa Odabash, Melanie Rickey and Susie Bubble. Sasha was born in 1987 in Jaffa, Israel, a unique city on the seaside and grew up surrounded by an eclectic mix of people in a city that challenges the concept of beauty, cohabitation and culture integration. “At home, I have seen thousands of people defining themselves through fashion, choosing to be unique or look alike”, says Sasha. “I found clothing and textiles to be one of the most fascinating and thrilling things. My love for fashion is a profound desire to give people controversy, diversity and freedom. While closely following the turmoil of the Arab Spring, I strangely felt inspired by it. I started to feel that it was time for women to have their Personal Spring”.
