Dutch rationality, French elegance together with a touch of Made in Italy: this is the mix of characteristics that allowed Térence Coton, French designer and Alumnus, to win the 2018 edition of Red Dot Award in Product Design section. His creation, called TULIP, is a vase winner of the famous Red Dot Award 2018. TULIP combines three individual vases in a unique object. Reversible, it can be used to display different compositions with a small or large bouquet, or even floating flowers in its central island, while saving some space in the home. Between classic and contemporary, the vase may always be displayed empty or just filled with water as an artistic object. According to Térence’s vision, design represent the opportunity to gather a variety of realities and combine their chaotic nature into a sophisticated and simple result. Térence studies between Holland and Italy, where in 2014 he attends the Master’s course in Product Design at The Milano School of Design. Based in Milan, he collaborates with international architecture and design studios in New York and London. In 2016 he founds ‘Térence Coton Design’, starting to create objects for the home such as furniture, lighting and tableware in collaboration with Flaminia, Salviani, Versace Home, Samsung and Amazon among others. In 2017 he takes part in ‘Prisma Project’, the group of four talented designers supported by Istituto Marangoni, thus realizing numerous projects such as STAR.DUST, the table DANSEUSE and an experimental project called NAUTA as the interpretation of the OLED technology.
