On the occasion of the upcoming Milan Design Week, Istituto Marangoni has interpreted the world’s leading design week into a narrative path telling the culture of design and the best of Made in Italy creativity through initiatives, exhibitions and talks involving the many emerging talents of the Design School, as well as special guests like designer Tom Dixon.
For the occasion, the headquarters in Via Cerva 24 in Milan will host "Istituto Marangoni Design Experience" supported by partnerships with famous furniture brands and curated directly by Giulio Cappellini, brand ambassador for Istituto Marangoni.

The alumni involved in the initiative are the 10 talented designers of the "Prisma Project " who, led by Sergio Nava, will exhibit decorative elements made with Venetian enamels and gold-leaf glass mosaics from the renowned Venetian Orsoni furnace, and will present new bathroom solutions and prototypes of 3D printing porcelain lamps for the historic Ceramica Flaminia brand. The same company has involved Interior Design students in the creation of bathroom furnishing projects to be included in the Flaminia collection.
Students of the Master’s in Product Design, instead, will showcase lamp designs in innovative materials for the company Icone Luce and an "Outdoor Collection" for the hospitality sector of the Cappellini brand. The historic design furniture company has also launched the "Cappellini Villas" project, which had the students of the Master’s in Interior Design ‘re-thinking’ some villas in White Bay, Egypt.
As a partner of Istituto Marangoni, Lea Ceramiche challenged students of the Master’s in Surface & Textile Design with the task to create a ceramic materials project aimed at combining the company’s style with the new interior design trends addressed during the course.
While the School of Design will host WASP's high-tech 3D printers for ceramic materials in its spaces, many other partner companies, including Lea Ceramiche, Ceramica Flaminia and Cappellini, will be showcasing Istituto Marangoni students' designs within their showrooms around the city. Refin Studio, in particular, will host the presentation of Mimesis_Material Performances: a series of glass objects produced by Ooniko to complement the Vetri collection in porcelain stoneware of the Refin brand. Another interesting project not to be missed is "IDD REFRAMED", winning project designed by three students of the school for the initiative "Recognizing the district with a look" promoted by IDD - Innovation Design District. "IDD REFRAMED" is an installation that can be seen in the Innovation Design District, between Porta Nuova and Porta Volta.
As part of the Icon Design Talks organized at the Riccardo Catella Foundation in Milan's Isola district, Mark Anderson, Director of Education of the School of Design of Istituto Marangoni Milano, will be in conversation with renowned designer Tom Dixon. > BOOK YOUR PLACE
Istituto Marangoni will be exclusive educational partner of the ‘Guiltless Plastic’ project, curated by Rossana Orlandi, renowned gallerist and Istituto Marangoni alumna. Part of the initiative will be a ‘ring’ that will see the participation of Mark Anderson. The winning projects will then be presented during the Design Week in September, at Istituto Marangoni London. On this occasion, Istituto Marangoni will launch two new scholarships in partnership with Rossana Orlandi.
The School of Design and its students will also participate in the Salone Internazionale del Mobile event (Fiera di Rho), with the presentation of the "Danse" coffee table collection by Malika Novi, inspired by dance movements, and the visual design project "Viusic" signed by Yuetong Shi. An Istituto Marangoni stand will also be set up at Salone Satellite, where the "Prisma Project" alumni will be able to present their projects in more depth.
