Santi and Alessandro Garofolo, two young designers, Istituto Marangoni Milano student the former and graduate the latter, will participate in the open-air exhibition “Over the Under – Manhole Art tells the story of a Cabled City” by Metroweb. Their works, along with those signed by renowned Italian designers, will grace the streets of Milano’s Fashion District from 24th February, 2015 to January 2016. At its third edition now, the cultural initiative “Over the Under – Manhole Art tells the story of a Cabled City” is a tribute to Milano’s internationality and its excellence products. Organised by Metroweb, and curated by Monica Nascimbeni in partnership with the City of Milano, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, and the charity Oxfam Italia, the exhibition showcases 24 artistic Manholes created by some of the most prestigious Italian Designers, including Prada, Valentino, Giorgio Armani and Just Cavalli. The “Tombini Art” will be exhibited around via Montenapoleone and via S.Andrea, in Milano. Among them, also those made by two young talents of the Milano School of Fashion. Santi is currently attending a Master’s programme in Fashion Design Womenswear at Istituto Marangoni Milano; her project is inspired by Italy’s creativity and its international resonance, starting from the place that is Milano’s commercial and historical heart par excellence, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. Alessandro Garofolo, who graduated in Fashion Design from Istituto Marangoni in 2014, instead, celebrates Milano – Europe’s most wired city – as an international hub for relationships, culture, and art, through an artistic depiction of the City’s wired underground. At the end of the exhibition, the 24 “Tombini Art” will be auctioned by Christie’s and Metroweb will donate the funds raised to charity, for projects promoted by the NPO Oxfam Italia.
