Gina Hewitt, Operations Manager at FASHION SCOUT EVENTS, was invited by Istituto Marangoni the London School of Fashion to speak on Wednesday, January 20 about the events firm that she works for and its two platforms: Graduate Fashion Week and Fashion Scout. Graduate Fashion Week is the world's leading event showcasing the work of the best fashion students and graduates from the most influential and inspiring universities around the world, creating a veritable source of new talent for the creative industries. With 22 catwalk shows, exhibitions from over 40 universities, and a packed live talks and workshops schedule featuring leading names from the fashion industry, the event is an unrivalled platform for the promotion of new talent, bridging the gap between graduation and employment. Over the years, Graduate Fashion Week has helped launching the careers of some of the most successful designers of our time including Christopher Bailey, Stella McCartney, Giles Deacon, Matthew Williamson, and Julien Macdonald. Approaching its twentieth consecutive season, Fashion Scout is the UK's largest independent showcase for emerging and established design talent. Taking place during London Fashion Week and a prominent fixture also among the Paris showrooms, the event is renowned for championing, nurturing and launching a new generation of creative designers including: Peter Pilotto, Felder Felder, David Koma, Eudon Choi, Fyodor Golan, Agi & Sam, Phoebe English, and more. It also functions as a privileged stage for single international designers and collective showcases from around the world to be seen by fashion industry high-ranking executives and insiders. The meeting with Gina Hewitt, in between a career seminar and a recruitment talk, saw the participation of a large group of students from the 2nd and 3rd year of the Fashion Business; Fashion Styling; Fashion Design and MA – Luxury Brand Management; Fashion Promotion Communication & Media; and Contemporary Fashion Buying classes, who responded in great number to the opportunity to be among the front-of-house or backstage volunteers helping in the events organized by Fashion Scout during London Fashion Week.
