Istituto Marangoni has joined forces with Rossana Orlandi for an engaging initiative to steer up environmental awareness and the importance of taking immediate action to reduce plastic pollution among the next generation of designers. Former student of Istituto Marangoni and currently regarded as one of the most prominent design gallerists and curators in the world, Rossana Orlandi launched the ‘Guilty Feeling’ project in 2017 with the aim of involving the world of design into giving plastic a new life. The evolution of this initiative, now called 'GuiltlessPlastic', of which Istituto Marangoni is the educational partner, is Ro Plastic Prize, an international competition awarding works sustainably conceived and made of recycled– and still recyclable – plastic. As part of the main Guiltless Plastic initiative, Istituto Marangoni Director of Education Mark Anderson was invited to take part in the Ro Ring held during last week’s Design Week in Milano, a stage where international designers share ideas and deliver their thoughts on how to deal with the issue of sustainability and plastic recycling. The winning projects of the Ro Plastic Prize international award, selected by a jury of professionals and experts in the field, will be on display during the next LDW in September at Istituto Marangoni’s School of Fashion and Design in London, which supports the initiative along with the School in Milano. A special Guiltless Plastic event will be held to foster environmental consciousness and responsibility for the future of our planet, as well as <<to unite the design community in the challenge to move beyond plastic pollution as we know it, and to promote the next generation of design,>> as precisely stated in the competition brief. Moreover, thanks to the partnership with Rossana Orlandi, there are two scholarships on the offer for talented designers wanting to enhance their career at the Design Schools in London and Milano.
