Her great passion for figurative arts has encouraged her to pursue her dream of becoming a brilliant designer. She has chosen to do so under the guidance of the expert professionals of Istituto Marangoni, by enrolling in the Fashion Design Course of Istituto Marangoni Milano. Alessandra Maffei’s curricular project pays homage to the colourful landscape of the city of Miami, with strong recalls to the works of Spanish photographer Ernesto Artillo. “Break up Miami”, this is the title of the curricular project, is a womenswear collection, a street wear collection with a young and modern taste for a confident and powerful woman. The beauty of Miami, the decorations, Art Deco architecture and pastel colours of this eclectic, lively city, are the background to Alessandra’s “Break up Miami” capsule collection. The concept, instead, lies in the deconstruction of images and shapes, in the typical style of Ernesto Artillo’s collage works, which have already inspired many emerging designers. The main peculiarity of the collection is the overlaying of different garments so as to create different layers, all strictly asymmetric and taken care of down to the smallest detail. The pastel colours used, yellow, lilac and light blue, have been wisely blended with brighter nuances, like purple, blue and shocking pink. Wool, denim and fake fur are the dominant fabrics, enlivened by cool, multifaceted Art Deco inspired prints.
