PLACES, STORIES OF UNIQUE SPACES: SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE MASTER COURSE IN LUXURY BOUTIQUE HOTEL INTERIOR DESIGN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH STUDIO URQUIOLA

 

Every unique place, whether a city or a specific building, carries within itself a distinct story shaped by culture, history, innovation, and emotional resonance. These places are more than mere locations; they reflect the identities of their communities, their creators, and the values they embody.

The challenge of this scholarship contest in partnership with STUDIO URQUIOLA is to create a 40-seconds video storytelling the uniqueness of a specific place (an iconic building or city). Highlight what makes this place exceptional: its historical significance, architectural innovation, cultural influence, or a distinctive characteristic that resonates personally.

 

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Led by Patricia Urquiola, Studio Urquiola, based in Milan, is internationally recognized for its visionary approach, blending contemporary aesthetics, innovation, and sustainability with deep cultural sensitivity. With iconic projects across architecture, interior, product, and installation design, the studio continuously shapes the global conversation around the future of luxury and hospitality design.

 

THE PROJECT

Every participant should show his /her own vision to craft a narrative that is clear, emotionally engaging, and visually compelling.

This task goes beyond conveying facts; it is about capturing the essence and the spirit of the place. Employ images, text, voiceover, or motion graphics to vividly communicate its story and make your audience appreciate its unique legacy. The goal is simple: to inform, captivate, and inspire within 40 seconds.

Applicants should adhere to the following guidelines when developing their video:

  • Identify a Strong Narrative Focus: Select a distinct aspect of the place: its origin, architectural vision, cultural impact, or a surprising detail, and centre your story around it.
  • Be Visually Powerful and Concise: Use impactful imagery, dynamic editing, and precise visuals to efficiently deliver your message. Each second matters; avoid distractions and remain focused.
  • Use Voice or Text for Clear Narration: Employ voiceover or on-screen text to guide the audience through your narrative, ensuring clarity and emotional engagement. Maintain authenticity and personal resonance.
  • Conclude with Impact and Emotion: End your story with a memorable element—a striking fact, a powerful visual, or a thoughtful quotation. Your final moment should leave a lasting impression.

 

THE SCHOLARSHIP

The winner will be awarded a scholarship up to 50% deduction on the tuition fee (enrollment fee is due) for the Master in Luxury Boutique Hotel Interior Design starting in September 2025 in Milano Design school.
