Alt image Anvita Sharma graduated in Fashion Design from Istituto Marangoni Milano and then completed a Master’s course at Istituto Marangoni Paris, before moving back to her hometown in India and launch her own fashion label Two Point Two in 2017. Her first official collection was selected for Lakmé Fashion Week ‘Gennext’, one of the most sought after scouting contests in the world for emerging fashion design talents, which has launched some of the most renowned Indian fashion designers. After that, she showcased also at Lakmé Fashion Week for the first time in January 2018, and then again in August the same year, in the Emerging Designer category. Out of strong interest and concern for gender equality, in 2018 Anvita joined  #MindtheGap, an initiative aimed at bringing together panel discussions, art, photography and fashion with the goal of raising awareness about gender roles and their divisions in society. Indeed, “Agender is the new gender” is the motto of her brand; as the name suggests, Two Point Two aims at overcoming the binary 0-1 of genders and reach the next level, that is, 2.2. Anvita Sharma’s collections draw on asymmetries, imperfections and deconstructions borrowed from the many cultures and lifestyles she has come in touch with during the years she has spent living in world fashion capitals such as Milan, London, Paris, Mumbai and Delhi. Her mood boards are often inspired by the philosophy and work of international artists, from Serbian performance artist Marina Abramovic, to French illustrator George Lepape. Her latest SS 2019 collection, instead, revolves around the concept of unconventional beauty, which she has come across while exploring ‘Microsculpture’, The Insect Portraits of British photographer Levon Biss. Two Point Two has been featured in Indian and international magazines of the likes of Elle, Verve, GQ, Grazia and Design Scene, just to name a few; the brand has dressed a great number of Indian celebrities and was part of an exclusive trunk show with Elle India X The Canadian High Commission at the Canada House in New Delhi in 2018; the same year, it won the Grazia Young Fashion Award for the Urbanwear category.
