Hosting Missoni: Shaping a new vision
On March 20th, Istituto Marangoni Paris had the privilege of hosting Luca Missoni, President of the Archives and Vice-President of the Ottavio and Rosita Missoni Foundation. Joined by excellent alumnus Pietro Fadda, Luca engaged an audience of fashion design students, recounting the remarkable journey of the iconic Missoni fashion house, renowned for its revolutionary knitted dresses and artistic patchwork since the 1950s.
During the event, Luca and Pietro shed light on Missoni's enduring commitment to art and sports, drawing inspiration from its rich archives to propel its vision forward. Under the guidance of programme leader Gianni Nembrini, Istituto Marangoni Paris's fashion design students have been tasked with the exciting challenge of reimagining Missoni for the Gen Z audience. This initiative, dubbed "Zaudacity," aims to infuse Missoni's avant-garde spirit with contemporary sensibilities.
In the special evening event, Luca Missoni and Istituto Marangoni Paris were honoured guests at the Italian Consulate in Paris for Italian Design Day. Here, they showcased Missoni's innovative use of colors, textures, and its profound passion for sports—an embodiment of its enduring avant-garde edge.
Luca's visit not only enriched the educational experience of Istituto Marangoni Paris's students but also highlighted the invaluable connection between heritage, innovation, and the limitless possibilities of fashion design. As Missoni continues to inspire fashion enthusiasts worldwide, the collaboration between Missoni and Istituto Marangoni Paris promises to shape a bold and visionary future for the fashion industry.
