Italian Design Day e Istituto Marangoni

The first day of Italian Design Day in the world will be symbolically inaugurated on March 2, 2017 in Rome, as the formal start of a series of initiatives carried out by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the celebration of contemporary Italian Design. For the occasion, Istituto Marangoni has organized a rich program of events entitled to this important 'Made in Italy' sector – design in furniture, fashion and architecture.

Launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with the Triennale di Milano, the Italian Design Day will take place in different cities around the world at the same time and is part of a larger project aimed at promoting the spirit of the Italian lifestyle worldwide. On the same day, in over 100 Italian and international locations, 100 'Ambassadors' of Italian culture, including designers, entrepreneurs, journalists and teachers, will be promoting excellence projects.

The Italian Design Days will formally begin on March 2, with an opening ceremony at the Farnesina building in Rome attended by the Istituto Marangoni The School of Design Director Massimo Zanatta in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Among the events organized, Cristina Morozzi’s Istituto Marangoni Brand Ambassador, lecture on March 2  at the Embassy of Misk (Belarus) entitled "Belarusian Linen and Italian Art of Embroidery: the comparison of two different worlds. Applications and future contaminations in the traditions of the two countries".

Simultaneously, at the IM Training Centre in Shenzhen, the Director of Education of the Chinese campus Giusi Lara will give a lecture entitled: " New Features in the Italian Fashion System: Metamorphosis and Evolution".

In Tehran, instead, Italian design was celebrated on 28 February with a seminar chaired by designer Orietta Risi and architect Andrea Scremin on “The Role of Design for the Creation of a Project: from Conception to Construction”. On the same day, Istituto Marangoni introduced its Schools of Fashion and Design to the Iranian public and also launched, together with the Italian Embassy in Iran and Soureh University, the "Dress for Comfort" contest for Design students and young professionals. Participants in the competition are asked to design an innovative seat concept on the theme of 'relaxation'. Istituto Marangoni will award the winner with a 100% scholarship to attend Short Course at Istituto Marangoni Milano School of Design.

Finally, on March 15, there will be the Triple I Conversation between architect Giulio Cappellini, Art Director of the Design School, and eminent Italian fashion designer and Istituto Marangoni alumnus Maurizio Pecoraro, moderated by Daniela Agnelli, Fashion editor-at-large of The Telegraph Magazine. The conversation, which will take place at 5pm at the headquarters of Istituto Marangoni London, will be an opportunity to combine the design experiences of two different areas, furniture and fashion, with the aim to explore the entrepreneurial declination of contemporary design.
