Applicants interested in applying to Istituto Marangoni are required to meet specific entry requirements that may vary according to the chosen course.

Foundation Programmes

  • Copy of High School Diploma and school certificates*
  • Copy of passport or national ID for EU students
  • I/GCSE with 3/D in English or equivalent. Applicants need to provide a copy of an official English language certificate equivalent to B1 at CEFR level. VISA students must provide IELTS UKVI (Academic) 5.0 overall and no element below 4.5

* Minimum of 5 I/GCSE level at grade 4/C or minimum equivalent qualification

Foundation in Fashion and Design (RQF 3)

This is a preparatory course recommended for applicants who may wish to explore creative disciplines before chose their academic pathway or need to build some knowledge before to progress to higher education. 

For this level is not required to complete skill test or submit 6 creative ideas.

Three-Year Courses
  • Application Form: BA Courses applications should normally be made through UCAS * 
  • Signed personal statement
  • Copy of High School Diploma and school certificates*
  • I/GCSE with 4/C in English. Applicants are required to provide proof of their English language ability. The English test score should be at least B2 on the CEFR level (e.g. IELTS Academic 6.0 overall, no less than 5.5 for each element)

*80 UCAS points or minimum marks in one of the following most common qualifications:

  • GCE with two A level at grade BB
  • BTEC National Extended Diploma with MMP
  • Foundation Diploma with Pass
  • Access to Higher Education Diploma with Pass Overal
  • International Baccalaureate with 26 IB total points
  • Scottish Qualification with three Higher at grade B 
  • Irish Leaving Certificate with four Higher at grade 4 
  • American High School Diploma with GPA 2.5 plus
    - SAT score of 1200 in total or
    - ACT score of 25 or
    - Two AP at grade 4 or
    - Completed 1st year of University/Junior College

For BA (Hons) Courses, applicants are required to

  • Complete a Skill test: for business related courses it consists of 10 multiple choice questions; for creative courses it consists of 4 multiple choice questions
  • Submit 6 Creative Ideas - for creative courses: they can be anything that visually describes their inspiration and the area of study that applicants have chosen. They can be submitted in the form of sketches, drawings, photographs, moodboards and collages. The 6 creative ideas might also be a mix of these. They can also be a personal reinterpretation of objects, environments, people, situations, etc. or design ideas such as a representation of personal creations such as outfits/fashion collections, objects, furniture pieces, interior spaces, etc. according to the desired course you are applying to. All items must be submitted in A4 or A3 format, in .pdf, .tiff, .jpg, .zip.

The normal minimum age for entry shall be 18 years.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Students with some experience of higher education can enter one of our BA (Hons) degrees in the second year (RQF level 5). This request must go through a process called Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) which enables the School and Regent’s University London to endorse the knowledge and skills that students bring with them when they embark on a programme of study. During the admissions process BA applicants will be additionally required to submit a RPL form (available from the Admissions office upon request).

Semester Courses

Students with some experience of higher education can enter one of our BA (Hons) degrees in the second year (RQF level 5) for 6 months starting from term 1 or 2 depending from the intake. During the admissions process BA applicants will be additionally required to submit a piece of written work (not for creative courses) or portfolio (not for business courses) to show knowledge achieved during their previous studies.

All prospective students may have access to these Programmes without the right academic background if they have proven relevant work experience in the Fashion or Design field. Programme Leaders may request an interview (in person or online) in order to assess passion, motivation, commitment and aspiration of the prospective student.

The Admissions team may accept other qualifications as are deemed to be acceptable in lieu of the specified in this document, we may use UK ENIC and UCAS calculator for the evaluation. 

All applicants are required to provide as follow before the starting date of the course:

  • passport size photo (2x2 inches)
  • copy of a valid passport (and VISA documents if applicable)
  • true copy of final school/test certificates plus notarized translation (if applicable)
  • signed offer form (and CAS preview if applicable)
  • proof of school fees payment

Postgraduate Courses

  • 2 reference letters, 1 academic reference only in case of progression from IM (UG)
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Copy of recognized UK Bachelor's Degree with normally 2:1 or equivalent qualification and transcript. Relevant practical or work experience in a related field may also be taken into account.
  • Portfolio - for creative programmes only 
  • I/GCSE with 4/C in English. Applicants are required to provide proof of their English language ability. The English test score should be at least B2 on the CEFR level (e.g. IELTS Academic 6.5 overall, no less than 5.5 for each element)

All Programmes are subject to validation by Regent’s University London.
