CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Students will be able to explore contemporary design practice in either product, jewellery or interior design through applying research methodologies and design thinking strategies towards specific design solutions, where each aspect of the design process is explored.

Brainstorming, sketching and model making techniques, assist in concept generation and exploration of form. These ideas are further refined through CAD modelling, rendering and prototyping, where final design solutions are realized.

Students will be encouraged to consider social, economic and environmental impacts in design through examining ethical design, material analysis, production processes and end-of-life cycle.

The Personal Development Unit in Design, is structured over two terms to provide students with core design skills in concept sketching, rendering and advanced modelling techniques for realising 3D projects. These skills provide a framework to develop design concepts into fully resolved creative outcomes towards building a design portfolio.

The Personal Development Unit in Design, with English Language, is structured over two terms to provide students with a broad range of topics to broaden their listening and reading skills in addition to written and spoken English language skills. These skills provide a framework to support design subjects taught across Terms 1. and 2. ensuring that students are able to communicate their research and design outcomes effectively, through written and verbal communication strategies.
