Istituto Marangoni Mumbai’s Alumna Pallavi Singh has bagged a position among the top 5 Finalist in the student category of The Himalayan Knot. This is a prestigious national level fashion competition initiated by Royal Enfield Social Mission in collaboration with Vogue India. This recognition places Pallavi Singh among India’s most promising young designers.

Vogue India backed platform selects responsible Indian fashion

The Himalayan Knot is a curated platform that celebrates Indian craft traditions while motivating designers to reinterpret these traditions through a modern and responsible lens. Conceptualised by Royal Enfield Social Mission and Vogue India, the platform brings together designers, students, and artisan communities.

A rigorous jury and a competitive selection

Season 2 of The Himalayan Knot was evaluated by an eminent jury comprising Rochelle Pinto (Head of Editorial Content, Vogue India), Pernia Qureshi (fashion entrepreneur and stylist), Suket Dhir (fashion designer), Laila Tyabji (Founder, Dastkar), and Vigyat Singh (Director, Eicher Group Foundation). Finalists are selected on the basis of design integrity, sustainability measures, and the ability to meaningfully engage with traditional crafts.

Community led sustainability through contemporary design

Pallavi Singh’s final collection was based on community led sustainability. Developed in collaboration with Bhujodi weavers, Ajrakh block printers, and women knitters from the Himalayan region. The collection translated time honoured craft techniques into modern silhouettes. The work focused on preserving artisanal knowledge while adapting it for contemporary relevance, an approach that brings together global conversations around responsible fashion.

Reflecting Istituto Marangoni Mumbai’s design philosophy

Pallavi completed the Fashion Design One Year Intensive programme at Istituto Marangoni Mumbai. The achievement at Vogue India backed platform reflects Marangoni’s emphasis on cultural awareness, design research, sustainability, and industry relevance.

This milestone not only marks a significant moment in Pallavi Singh’s journey but also reinforces Istituto Marangoni Mumbai’s commitment to shaping designers who contribute thoughtfully to the future of fashion.
