Hi! My name is KIM Daesung, and I am from South Korea. I graduated in Fashion Design from Istituto Marangoni Milano and progressed my career in fashion by founding my own brand – KIMOUI.

I chose to study at Istituto Marangoni because Italy’s remarkable fashion heritage inspired me. Italy is known worldwide for its refined taste and craftsmanship, with brilliant use of colour, texture and details. I aspired to be a designer who can balance and combine colours and textures in unique ways, so my purpose was to study fashion at the best fashion school in Italy.

I was in the school’s top ranking in the first semester, so I got the unique opportunity from Marangoni to be at the Louis Vuitton presentation party. It was such an incredible moment in my life, the most memorable experience during my academic journey.

Once I graduated, I had a three-month internship at Moschino, which allowed me to gain professional experience and further insight into the industry. Then I returned to my country, South Korea, where I launched my brand, Kimoui. I now work there as the brand’s Creative Director. After working for the Tranoï tradeshow in Paris, I would like to develop and expand my brand to give in an international presence.

An incredible global community enhances the value of top-notch education at Marangoni. Istituto Marangoni has a solid international network connecting major fashion capitals worldwide, including Milan, Paris, London, and more. I keep in touch with my fellow alumni from around the world as we regularly text each other and interact on social media. I firmly believe that being in touch with the Marangoni alumni community helps us keep an international perspective and blurs the boundaries. I am so proud to be part of it!
