New Domestic Narratives
New Domestic Narratives
Starting from May 3rd, the School of Design of Istituto Marangoni will set up “New Domestic Narratives”. The exhibition will present the project proposals made by the students of the Product and Furniture Design Masters Course of Istituto Marangoni Milano Design for Moroso, with the art direction of Elena Salmistraro.
Over the past year, we have witnessed a profound transformation in the way we live the workplace and our everyday spaces. The home, in particular, which had already evolved from a convivial space to a private place for self-care, has gained a new meaning, becoming the main setting for work and education. No longer just a hearth of nurture and an oasis of well-being, the domestic space has been transformed into a "theater" for the daily representation of the social and professional self, connected to the world through digital channels.
This paradigm shift has triggered a deep change in the home, which has embraced an increasing "extroverted" variety of meanings: no room has a central role anymore but, from time to time, the living room, the kitchen or the bedroom become settings for an ever-changing flow of uses and representations.
This is the scenario faced by the students of the Product & Furniture Design Master’s Course of Istituto Marangoni Milano Design. Under the artistic direction of Elena Salmistraro, they worked for Moroso to explore the possibilities of new domestic narratives through design, in line with the needs of people in an age of "augmented" and simultaneously "diminished" social interaction, and updating the typically Italian role of design as a visual story of everyday life.
The exhibition will be open during the Open Week of Istituto Marangoni Milano Design. To reserve your spot, register here >> https://www.istitutomarangoni.com/en/news-events/open-week
