This course introduces the creative foundations of fashion communication, combining styling, photography, and art direction to build compelling visual narratives. Participants explore image, mood, and media to craft original content that reflects personal vision and contemporary aesthetics
This course is structured over 4 weeks:
Week 1 – 20 hours
Introduction to fashion communication; styling as a visual language; fundamental elements used to dictate a style (colour, silhouette, accessories etc); overview of key fashion icons; celebrity styling; analysis of current trends in fashion styling
Week 2 – 20 hours
Exploration of the role of video; fashion photoshoot planning and execution; postproduction and editing; mini fashion film: from concept development to filming techniques.
Week 3 – 20 hours
Focus on fashion show; behind-the-scenes process of a fashion show: creative direction, production, styling, and fitting; the importance of casting, make-up and hairstyling; analysis of case histories
Week 4 – 15 hours
Development of a creative visual content for fashion using a medium of their choice (e.g., photography, video, digital images); final review session with feedback from instructors.
Classes are scheduled as follows:
– Sunday to Thursday: one evening class per day (6:00–9:00 PM)
– Saturday: two classes (10:00 AM–3:00 PM)
This course focuses on the analysis of image and the development of style, offering participants an introduction to the creative processes behind fashion communication. From the definition of fashion moods to the exploration of iconic fashion muses, students will learn how to build strong visual narratives that reflect contemporary aesthetics and personal vision. They will study both technical and theoretical elements related to the creation of fashion content, including photography, video production, styling, and art direction.
The program combines hands-on practice with conceptual research, encouraging students to experiment with different media and formats. By the end of the course, students will be able to develop original visual content for fashion, applying styling and art direction principles across various platforms, from editorial shoots to digital campaigns.
