Brazil on the Beauty Radar: Seduction, Scents, and Make-up Magic

What makes Brazilian women so captivating? Is it just a matter of genetics, or is there something more? To explore this question—and many others—Istituto Marangoni Paris hosted an exclusive talk on Tuesday, the 27th, at the campus Orangerie, bringing together top industry experts, visionary entrepreneurs, and influencers who know the secrets behind the unmistakable glamour carioca.
Leading the conversation was Cristina Cordula, former top model, beloved French TV personality, and now founder of the beauty brand Magnifaïk. With her signature energy, she described the open, natural relationship Brazilian women have with their bodies. “They seek products that care for both skin and hair while offering an intense, multisensory experience,” she explained. In short: silky textures and joyful, enveloping fragrances are a must.
Speaking of fragrance, Isaac Sinclair, maître parfumeur at Symrise and a long-time Brazil resident (14 years, to be exact), reminded the audience that Brazil is the world’s largest perfume market, even if revenues are mainly driven by mass-market segments. His talk was a sensory journey through fruity notes, creative layering, and the unmistakable aroma of lavender—a favorite among Brazilian consumers.

Beauty influencer Thaïs echoed this, adding: “We love layering! It’s how we personalize our scent and express who we are.” Meanwhile, Marina Cruz, Head of Business Development at Granado, shared the remarkable story of the brand founded in 1870. Today, it stands as a proud example of made in Brazil success in Europe, with its colorful boutiques and tropical-print packaging becoming cult favorites among Western beauty lovers.
From major players like Natura and O Boticário to more niche brands, Brazilian beauty continues to charm the global market—powered by an inclusive, sun-drenched, and sensorial philosophy.
The event wrapped up with a fragrance smelling session led by Isaac Sinclair, giving a large crowd of students and beauty enthusiasts the chance to explore the many olfactory layers of Brazilian perfumery.
And Cristina Cordula? At the end of the talk, she took the opportunity to share a project that's especially close to her heart: she'd love to bring Magnifaïk to Brazil, her home country. From the runway to entrepreneurship, hers is a story truly worth admiring.
