An immersive experience between heritage and design at Camparino in Galleria

In the world of luxury hospitality, working in boutique hotels goes far beyond managing a space: it requires method, attention to detail, and the ability to shape meaningful, coherent, and memorable experiences. This balance between history, creativity, and design defines the journey of the Master in Luxury Boutique Hotel students from Istituto Marangoni Milano Design, who visited the iconic Camparino in Galleria on March 18, 2026—one of the key symbols of Milanese aperitivo culture.

Guided by Tommaso Cecca – Global Head of Camparino Licensing & Mixology, students discovered how a historic venue can be both a guardian of tradition and a hub for creativity, storytelling, and experience design. Every element—from cocktail presentation to interior choices—reflects a blend of heritage, innovation, and visual refinement.

History and heritage: a Milanese icon

Founded in 1915 by Davide Campari, son of Gaspare Campari, Camparino in Galleria is located beneath the glass vaults of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a symbol of elegant and cosmopolitan Milan. With its Art Nouveau interiors and refined atmosphere, it remains a landmark for both locals and international visitors.

Today, Camparino is more than a historic bar: it is a space where mixology and experience design come together, turning each cocktail into a narrative moment and each visit into a cultural immersion.

Visual identity: the power of iconic graphics

Students explored the strong visual language of Camparino, from vintage lettering to clean graphic elements and its distinctive red palette. This careful attention to visual identity enhances the guest experience and connects tradition with contemporary design, creating an engaging and immersive environment.

An immersive learning journey

The visit allowed students to understand how hospitality, design, and history interact. Through Cecca’s guidance, they observed the precision behind mixology and how every choice—from glassware to menu design—contributes to a memorable guest experience.

A highlight was the exclusive mixing glass created with Alessi for the venue’s 110th anniversary, combining elegance, functionality, and tradition as a symbol of the dialogue between contemporary design and aperitivo culture.

Learning through experience: bridging theory and practice

The experience offered valuable insights into how tradition and innovation coexist in luxury environments, providing practical tools to design coherent and engaging spaces and services.

It reinforced how historical awareness, visual culture, and operational precision are essential to creating authentic and lasting experiences in luxury hospitality.
