Inside Istituto Marangoni Milano’s new campus: Palazzo Turati

Discover Istituto Marangoni Milano’s new Palazzo Turati campus, where 90 years of fashion heritage inspire global creativity

September 2025 marks a defining moment for Istituto Marangoni Milano, as the school officially relocates to Palazzo Turati. This move is more than a change of address; it coincides with the celebration of Istituto Marangoni’s 90th anniversary, marking nine decades of fashion and luxury heritage meeting cutting-edge creativity.

Situated in the heart of Milan, Palazzo Turati now provides state-of-the-art studios, workshops, and collaborative spaces designed to inspire the next generation of global fashion and design talent. Here, tradition fuels innovation, and the city itself becomes an integral part of the creative journey.

Before the official inauguration, an exclusive cocktail evening was held to unveil the new Palazzo Turati campus. The event brought together institutional representatives and the leadership of Istituto Marangoni and Galileo Global Education. Among the guests were Stefania Valenti (Global Managing Director of Istituto Marangoni), Marc-François Mignot-Mahon (President of Galileo Global Education Italia), Donato Medici (CEO di Galileo Global Education Italia), Paolo Meroni (School Director of Istituto Marangoni Milano), Senator Alessandra Gallone, Alessia Cappello (Councillor for Economic Development and Labour Policies of the City of Milan) and Silvia Sardone (Member of the European Parliament).

The evening, conceived as both a celebration and a statement of intent, reflected Milan’s distinctive blend of heritage and innovation, a meeting point between cultural legacy, design excellence, and global creative energy. To conclude the night on a sensory high, Pierre Gueros, Senior Perfumer at Symrise, presented a gender-neutral fragrance crafted specifically for the event. The composition weaves together woody and mineral accords, enriched by subtle warmth from vanilla and dry amber. More than a scent, it serves as a poetic interpretation of the campus’s ethos, symbolising the seamless interplay between tradition and innovation.

Palazzo Turati: Milan’s Neo-Renaissance Creative Hub

Built in the late 1800s for Count Francesco Turati, Palazzo Turati is a masterpiece of neo-Renaissance grandeur. Its diamond-point façades, sweeping granite colonnade and central courtyard reflect Milan’s rich architectural history. Inside, frescoed ceilings, parquet floors, and sculptural details evoke centuries of luxury and design history.

From the rooftop, students can enjoy breathtaking views where the Duomo meets the modern skyline of Porta Nuova. This striking contrast between past and future serves as a perfect metaphor for the campus itself, where heritage and bold ideas converge.

Futures Archive: Ninety Years of Italian Fashion Reimagined

As part of the campus inauguration, Istituto Marangoni Milano unveiled FUTURES ARCHIVE, a groundbreaking exhibition created in collaboration with Vogue Italia. Instead of simply retracing history, the project invited visitors to experience ninety years of Italian fashion through the lens of contemporary student creativity. Each capsule collection reflected a different decade, reinterpreted and transformed into fresh, forward-thinking designs using the magazine’s digital archives as inspiration.

Students from the Fashion Styling & Creative Direction courses played a central role, turning archival materials into live, tangible installations. The exhibition embodied the Istituto Marangoni Method(s) philosophy, an educational approach dating back to 1935, that continuously bridges the gap between hands-on craftsmanship and innovative, modern design processes. The result was an immersive journey where past, present, and future converged in a dynamic celebration of creativity.

The inauguration also introduced Istituto Marangoni’s new institutional claim, “Creative State of Mind,” developed by pop-artist and digital communicator Pietro Terzini. Rather than a simple slogan, it represents an attitude: a call to approach creativity as a daily practice, embracing curiosity, flexibility, and personal expression. The concept encourages students and professionals to see challenges as opportunities for experimentation and to let imagination guide both their work and mindset.
