Milano Moda Graduate: Special Mention for Giulia Lin

In a celebration of talent and vision, Giulia Lin, a third-year Fashion Design & Accessories student at Istituto Marangoni Firenze, received a Special Mention at the 11th Milano Moda Graduate, the initiative by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana that spotlights and promotes the finest young talents from Italian fashion schools on the international stage. Held in the evocative Sala delle Cariatidi at Palazzo Reale during Milano Fashion Week, the event reaffirms its role as a trusted bridge between schools, industry, and institutions.
Giulia Lin, 21, from Prato with Chinese roots, was named among the Best Students in Fashion Design 24/25 at Istituto Marangoni Firenze last June and finalist in the Feel the Yarn contest by Pitti Filati. Her collection, Hyphen, reflects on the delicate balance between life and work: homewear and workwear are deconstructed and reassembled into hybrid forms where comfort and formality coexist in a contemporary language. Hand-quilted details trace—as the designer notes—“the fragile link between expectation and reality in our daily lives,” translating a sensibility that is both conceptual and deeply human into garments.
Underscoring the breadth of talent at Istituto Marangoni Firenze, Xingtong Lee and Melina Shibli also took part in the YKK category; Shibli—already a Feel the Yarn winner at Pitti Filati—continues to demonstrate a coherent and ambitious trajectory.
The award was presented by Francesca Bellettini, CEO of Gucci, who served on the jury alongside leading voices from the international press and key industry figures—Sara Sozzani Maino, Beppe Angiolini, Sabrina Scarpellini, Andrea Rosso, Elia Maramotti, Marco Rambaldi, and Giuliano Calza.
For Istituto Marangoni Firenze, this recognition is both a source of pride and a confirmation of our daily commitment: to support, guide, and amplify talent. Through mentoring, project-based studios, and direct dialogue with the industry, we accompany our students as they turn passion into profession, cultivating a creativity that speaks to the present and imagines the future.
The School is proud of Giulia Lin and of all our students who, with dedication and courage, continue to define the new codes of fashion.
