This one year intensive programme provides participants the opportunity to study the principles and notions of fashion design processes and techniques, to enter the competitive industry of fashion with a solid foundation in creative thinking.
The programme covers the main methods and techniques that are essential to conduct a thorough exploration and research in fashion design contexts, from concept to prototyping and visual communication. At the same time, participants will be trained on how to recognise and investigate materials, tools, development and management techniques used in each area.
This course focuses on developing students’ skills in garment design, pattern making, and fashion illustration. Students will explore simple garments such as shirts and dresses and gain hands-on experience with construction and cutting techniques to create one-fabric calicos. Emphasis is placed on research both primary and secondary from a variety of sources, which informs the development of capsule collections and individual style projects.
Students will also learn to apply CAD techniques for vector files, technical drawings, and prints, while honing their ability to express style and design ideas creatively. The course integrates contemporary fashion trends and panorama insights, helping students present their work through professional layouts, visual books, and narrative portfolios.
Through the skills and notions acquired, students will be able to produce a personal portfolio for a capsule collection, with both an individual approach to creative personal expression and a mix-and-match of pattern making combined with visual storytelling.
Participants will also be challenged in developing their conceptual thinking abilities, in order to face their professional path equipped with an interdisciplinary set of skills, that will support them in their further creative career.
Graduates of this course will be prepared for a variety of roles in the fashion industry, including:
Fashion Designer
Pattern Maker
Fashion Illustrator
Trend Forecaster
Collection Developer
The program equips students with both technical and creative skills, enabling them to create professional collections, manage portfolios, and contribute to the fashion system with a strong understanding of contemporary trends, materials, and construction techniques.
