Rachel Scott, I'M Alumna of the One Year Fashion Design course at Istituto Marangoni Milano Fashion, is the creative director of Proenza Schouler as well as the founder and creative director of Diotima.

Of Jamaican origin, Rachel first rose to prominence after launching her brand Diotima when she was first nominated as a finalist for the prestigious LVMH Prize in 2023. Before embarking on her entrepreneurial journey, she built a wealth of experience in the fashion industry. After graduating from Istituto Marangoni Milano Fashion school in 2007, she began her career as an assistant designer at Ennio Capasa’s CoSTUME NATIONAL, then moved on to J. Mendel, before joining Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen’s Elizabeth and James as a designer. She later joined Rachel Comey, where over the course of seven years she rose through the ranks to become VP of Design.

In 2021, Rachel left her corporate career to establish Diotima, a ready-to-wear line crafted between Jamaica and New York City. The brand offers a seasonally interchangable wardrobe rooted in fine craftsmanship, unexpected details and fine materials. Through its designs, Diotima explores and reimagines the cultural and sartorial intersections of Caribbean and European traditions.

The year 2023 marked a turning point in Rachel’s career: as a finalist for the LVMH Prize, she was propelled onto the global fashion stage. Her momentum continued as she received the CFDA Emerging Designer of the Year and Womenswear Designer of the Year awards in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Scott was a runner-up for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2023 and a finalist for the 2025 Woolmark Prize. She also won the Fashion Trust US award for ready-to-wear in 2025.

Today, Rachel is recognized as one of the leading new voices in American fashion scene. This reputation was solidified in 2025 with her appointment as Creative Director of Proenza Schouler following the founders’ departure.
