The Attico Sant Ambroeus: The Sciura has never been so cool

If you are Milanese, you must have heard of this: Sant Ambroeus has just opened in the city as they revamped their historic home on Corso Matteotti. Of course, if you’re also a Milanese Sciura, you know what Sant Ambroeus stands for (if so, please skip the following lines). One of the symbols of Milan, this high-class café is steeped in deep-rooted history as its origins date back to 1936. And every Milan’s perfectly coifed, impeccably dressed and impossibly stylish local madame with a twist actually goes wild for this temple of taste. As an act of requited love, Sant Ambroeus loves these living icons of all the classicism and the quirk of Milanese style.

Now please consider that Sant Ambroeus is the favourite New York spot of Istituto Marangoni alumna Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini, then add that the Sciure are the guiding lights of these two it-girls and entrepreneurs. You will immediately understand why their brand, The Attico, played a key role in celebrating this café’s reopening in Milan. It was all about the launch of The Attico Sant Ambroeus, a series of items conceived as a tribute to Milanese cafè culture and style.

Two young, creative Italian women, Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini, launched The Attico in 2016. In less than five years, their project has become one of the hottest fashion brands and a respected multi-million-dollar business. A fusion of glamour, sensuality and a sparkling luxury attitude, The Attico has been mixing its founders’ personalities ever since a Fashion Design graduate at Istituto Marangoni, Ambrosio met Tordini, and they later joined forces to launch “THE project.” The rest is history.

You might now wonder what inspired such a successful brand. Again, the duo has no doubts: their fashion icons are the Milanese Sciure, the city’s elite, wealthy ladies. They love to wander the streets (and boutiques) of the Quadrilatero and sip a Moroccan coffee or a glass of champagne with their friends in one of the historic cafés in the Milanese city centre, Sant Ambroeus.

It is no coincidence that a Sciura has a well-defined comfort zone: the area of Milan between Montenapoleone and Brera, as confirmed by Sciuraglam (253k followers), an Instagram account paying day-to-day homage to this archetypal, often grown-up woman. There, the Milanese Sciura is immediately recognisable in her iconic look for the impeccable fit of her coat and the legendary shiny patent leather tote bag – both elements that have always fascinated Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini. Hence The Attico’s tribute, featuring a group of Sciure – Aida, Maria, Rena, Emilia and her husband Nico – captured on the street or sitting at Sant Ambroeus, chatting and gossiping while fully expressing their uttermost Sciura essence.

The Attico Sant Ambroeus capsule collection combines the heritage of an over 80-year-old brand and the freshness of a young label, consisting of a few pieces representing a definite “classy” and edgy style.

Launching their latest The Attico capsule collection in collaboration with this famed Milanese pastry shop, Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini have celebrated Sant Ambroeus’s comeback as reimagined by Fabrizio Casiraghi’s interior design studio. And they turned all these references into a collection of representative pieces to symbolise their shared love of glamour, stardust and heritage, mixed with the energy that only Milan and New York can give. So, here’s a t-shirt, a crewneck sweatshirt, a cap and a cup to go, all sold on theattico.com and branded with the exclusive The Attico Sant Ambroeus logo.

The Milanese ladies are now ready to spread their sophisticated, fancy style worldwide.
