SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ELIE SAAB
ELIE SAAB and Istituto Marangoni Paris proudly present the Crafting New Couture Scholarship — a pioneering opportunity for emerging designers to explore what couture means today and how it can evolve for tomorrow.
Rooted in the timeless elegance and refined savoir-faire of Elie Saab’s legacy, the scholarship celebrates a progressive vision of fashion: one that merges heritage craftsmanship, innovative materials, and responsible design values. This initiative reflects Elie Saab’s ongoing commitment to nurturing next-generation creative voices and shaping the future of couture with purpose and originality.
THE PROJECT
Applicants are invited to design a 3-look capsule collection that reflects the Elie Saab universe while reinterpreting couture through three key pillars:
- Craftsmanship: attention to detail, finishing, and artisanal techniques
- Forward-thinking materials: innovative, sustainable, or high-performance textiles
- Responsible values: cultural sensitivity, longevity, and ethical awareness
OBJECTIVES
Design a 3-look capsule collection that reflects the Elie Saab universe through:
• Craftsmanship: attention to detail, process, finishing, and artisanal techniques.
• Forward-thinking materials: innovative, sustainable, or high-performance textiles.
• Responsible values: cultural sensitivity, longevity, and ethical awareness.
ELIGIBILITY
The selection process will prioritise:
1. A graduate from the LAU Fashion Design Program
2. Other LAU graduates(Not from the LAU Fashion Design program)
3. A Lebanese student(a graduate with a Fashion Degree)
4. Fashion Students from the broader MENA region
DELIVERABLES
- Video Introduction (1 minute) “How do you define couture today, and how do you see yourself shaping its future?”: A short personal video presenting yourself and your capsule collection concept.
- Visual Portfolio (PDF, max. 10 pages): it has to include the following:
- Moodboard and concept references

Design illustrations (minimum 3 full-look designs).

Fabric and material inspiration (swatches, images, or descriptions)

Notes on silhouette, construction, and craftsmanship

Research images or cultural references from your region or heritage.
The use of AI
This award is meant for aspiring designers with a passion for handcrafted traditional techniques, culture and heritage. We will prioritize applicants who have not used AI generated images, within their submission.
THE SCHOLARSHIP
The winner will be awarded a Scholarship consisting of up to 70% deduction on the tuition fee (enrollment fee is always due) for the Master Course in Fashion Design starting in SEPTEMBER 2025 at the Paris school.
