CONTEMPORIZING TRADITION: SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THE MUMBAI SCHOOL

India’s rich tradition of handcrafted arts is recognized and embraced by designers both locally and globally. Today's fashion and design consumers are increasingly conscious, valuing transparency, sustainability, and meaningful storytelling in the creative process. 

THE PROJECT

Aspiring students are invited to submit proposals that aim to preserve and contemporize Indian crafts in a socially and environmentally responsible way.
Proposals should strike a thoughtful balance between tradition and innovation, demonstrating originality, creativity, and an imaginative, problem-solving approach.

The projects can be developed in different formats: video animations, PowerPoint presentations, a portfolio of prototypes enriched by music or voice-over, slideshow/gallery of images, the evolution of their idea in stop-motion or even a simple video story of the candidate.

The projects must be up to a maximum of 20 slides if it is a Powerpoint presentation, a portfolio or a gallery.

THE SCHOLARSHIP

The winner will be awarded of up to 30% scholarship on the tuition fee (enrolment fee is due) for the Undergraduate Progression, Postgraduate & One-Year Intensive Programme that will be held at the Mumbai Training Center of Fashion and Design of Istituto Marangoni in Mumbai, starting in September 2025.
