Andra Olaru is a Romanian fashion designer, co-owner and creative director of ALMAZ. She always showed great passion for the fashion world: since she was young, Andra attended design and art history courses and took on various jobs related to the fashion field. She enrolled in a Fashion Design Three Year Fashion at Istituto Marangoni in Milano and, during the third year, she was selected among the top 20 students of the her course and took part to the final year Fashion Show. ​After living different years in Milano, she finally decided to go back to her home country, Romania, and to launch her own ready-to-wear label, which is now sold in several countries around the world, including Austria, Israel, Hong Kong, South Korea and United States. ALMAZ drives inspiration for the collections form the contradictions of the modern society, the permanent collision between tradition and consumer culture, the respect for privacy and independence as a supreme signifier of tolerance. ALMAZ believes in the idea that the local and the global can coexist in a productive manner since neither of these values can overcome the other.
