Course Overview
This course examines how changes in fashion, consumer lifestyles, and culture interact. Participants will learn essential methods for identifying emerging trends and forecasting what consumers are likely to purchase several seasons in advance. Additionally, they will discover how to contextualize and interpret information to build the foundation of a trend preview: a well-balanced mix of research and work that goes beyond ‘fashion intuition’. The course concludes with the creation and pitch of a trend forecasting book.
COURSE STRUCTURE
This course is structured over 2 weeks:
Week 1 – 20 hours
Introduction to the trend forecasting (concepts and wording); exploration of the dynamics of trends diffusion; analysis of type of trends (from mega trends to fad); focus on the skills and tools used to study the consumer attitude and behaviors and to forecast the trends.
Week 2 – 20 hours
In-depth analysis of the main current trends; exploration of the upcoming trends in fashion, luxury and lifestyle; creation and pitch of a trend forecasting book, including color, fabrics, silhouette etc
Classes are scheduled as follows:
Sunday to Thursday: 4 hours per day (from late morning to early afternoon)
