Fashion Stylists play a pivotal role in the success of a fashion collection, a brand or a product. They do not only manage the complex mix of contemporary, cultural and aesthetic references, but they are also able to present a captivating, innovative and effective communication. By exploring the fashion panorama, participants will use a variety of media to create a professional portfolio and enter the fashion industry.

MILANO

This dynamic intensive course trains participants on essential technical and theoretical aspects related to the development of creative content for fashion (photography, video, styling and art direction). For those with limited time available, this course focuses on visual communication investigating the many different aspects of fashion styling, using images and multimedia contents to persuade, inspire, and create an emotional response.

The work of a fashion stylist must be both strategic and creative: attentive to the historical context and culture of fashion, to current trends and developments in the industry, and yet still remaining consistent with a client’s brief or brand identity.

During the course participants are introduced to key processes in creating and developing professional visual content using different media, understanding how to interpret the latest trends in fashion through lighting, accessories, poses, and props, translating style in a contemporary way alongside technical and aesthetic aspects. Research into the interaction between fashion, design and art further enhances participant’s knowledge of trends and current fashion aesthetics, while a look at key historical moments in fashion and image, as well as art and dress, assists in creative thinking, looking at styling from different contexts and cultures, in order to produce striking and innovative image proposals.

One Year Courses + Master’s Courses

For students who choose combined programmes, € 5.000 will be deducted from the tuition fee of the master programme with October 2024 intake, on the basis of the didactical
offer and prices for 2024-25. This is on the condition that the student pays the enrolment fee no later than:

  • 30 April 2024 for those who enrolled on the intensive course in October
    2023
  • 14 June 2024 for those who enrolled on the intensive course in February 2024.

After this period no deduction will be applicable on the tuition fee.
Access to the combined programmes is subject to the possession of a university degree and to obtaining the one-year course certificate, according to the academic year and after approval by the admissions committee at the end of the one-year course.

Module 1 · Research & Creative Tools

In this module, students are introduced to the fundamental skills and tools to work in the fields of fashion styling. They become familiar with some of the most important notions of creative direction, image sourcing and moodboard design, with a view to style analysis and collection development. Trend research will be leveraged as a methodology to ignite creativity and understand the evolution of current imaginaries, with an emphasis on content creation for social media. They will then acquire digital design skills for visual communication and representation, getting inspiration from fashion history and the latest trends.

Module 2 · Styling & Creative Direction

This module provides participants with the main techniques in contemporary image creation covering the international worlds of luxury, fashion and publishing. Starting with concepts related to image digital processing, styling, photography and multimedia creative direction, this programme addresses key notions and processes in creating and editing professional photo shoots, look books and content for social media. Participants will then learn the fundamentals of fashion journalism and understand the drivers of change impacting the contemporary fashion panorama to understand the market opportunities that fashion brands have nowadays in creating branded content. Eventually, participants will finalise their professional styling portfolio, in the form of a narrative and visual book, according to the contemporary image trends.

Access to each module is given upon successful completion of the previous one.
