Council of Universities' Affairs (CUA).
Students who successfully complete this programme will be awarded a Bachelor Degree from Istituto Marangoni Riyadh. The institution and its programmes operate under the supervision of the Council of Universities' Affairs (CUA), Ministry of Education, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design & Accessories at Istituto Marangoni Riyadh educates versatile designers able to combine creative vision, technical expertise and business awareness for the international fashion and accessories sector.
Its first year is deliberately interdisciplinary: students experience fashion design, fashion image, management, product, interior and visual design through workshops, while developing a common base in research methods, fine arts, Italian creative culture, sustainability and AI.
From Year 2, the course concentrates on the core language of fashion design, including sketching and illustration, image digital processing, introductory pattern-making and the study of fabrics and materials. Historical and cultural studies frame clothing as a reflection of artistic movements and social change, helping students understand how these references can be reinterpreted in contemporary collections.
By the third year, attention moves from individual skills to the construction of a collection: students define a personal design identity, develop patterns and prototypes and engage with production processes. In Year 4, they choose one of three specialist routes — Fashion Collection Design, Accessories Design & Luxury Goods, or Pattern Making & Tailoring — while economics and fashion marketing add market, consumer and competitor awareness. A dissertation and R&D internship complete the programme.
Saudi students seeking support through the Cultural Scholarship Program must also submit a separate application through the Cultural Scholarship Platform. Applicants seeking a scholarship are required to complete both applications separately within the application period.
Deadline for application is November 4th.
*Kindly note that the Cultural Scholarship Platform is only working within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
All Fees are inclusive of VAT.
The enrollment fee is due every year
APPLY NOWYEAR 1 (SEMESTERS 1 AND 2)
Building creative foundations across disciplines
The first year provides an interdisciplinary introduction to the creative industries, allowing students to explore different design fields and ways of thinking before progressing into more specialised fashion studies.
Semester 1 combines workshops in product design, fashion image, fashion management, and visual design with design and research methods, fine arts, global culture and contextual studies, and English language development.
In Semester 2, students expand their knowledge through fashion design, interior design, and fragrances & cosmetics, while also studying Italian creative culture, sustainability fundamentals, AI essentials, entrepreneurial mindset, soft skills, and specialist terminology.
The year concludes with a first portfolio that brings together research, drawing, and exploratory design concepts developed throughout the academic experience.
YEAR 2 (SEMESTERS 3 AND 4)
Developing the technical language of fashion design
Year 2 focuses on building the technical and methodological foundations required for professional fashion design practice.
During Semester 3, students engage with basic design, fashion design, image digital processing, pattern-making, materials science and technology, and the history of applied arts, alongside the study of a foreign language.
Semester 4 further strengthens these competences through advanced work in fashion design, digital processing, pattern-making, and representation methods and tools.
At the same time, fashion and costume history offers a broader cultural understanding of dress and its evolution across different contexts and periods.
YEAR 3 (SEMESTERS 5 AND 6)
From design development to collection thinking
In the third year, students shift their focus from individual garments to the development of coherent fashion collections and design narratives.
Fashion Design II and Fashion Collection Design I are supported by advanced pattern-making, prototyping, visual research, and visualisation techniques, enabling students to transform concepts into increasingly sophisticated outcomes.
Critical studies in contemporary fashion and design encourage students to challenge conventions, define their own creative perspective, and engage with current industry debates.
Free study activities provide additional opportunities to pursue personal interests and strengthen individual areas of expertise.
YEAR 4 (SEMESTERS 7 AND 8)
Specialisation, industry experience, and final collection
The final year is dedicated to specialisation and the realisation of a comprehensive graduation project.
According to their chosen pathway in Fashion, Accessories, or Tailoring, students develop expertise through specialised modules covering modelling and product design, 3D and accessories design, or atelier and tailoring techniques.
The curriculum is complemented by studies in sociology, anthropology and psychology of fashion, economics and fashion marketing, project communication, and dissertation development.
In Semester 8, students bring together the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the programme to create a final collection, experimental prototypes, and communication outputs, while also completing an R&D industry internship that strengthens their connection with professional practice.
The skills and knowledge developed throughout the four-year Bachelor degree course prepare students for a wide range of career opportunities across the industry.
