Participants will be introduced to different digital photography techniques, indoor and outdoor shooting, retouching and image processing and be given the opportunity to create a photo book of their work.

Istituto Marangoni preparatory level courses focus on personal enrichment and enjoyment aimed at young and aspiring creatives who may be considering university level study.

At this level of study there are no exams or assessments to worry about. Courses are specifically crafted for anyone interested in learning about design and creative processes, from the very basics, through to some of the more interesting and complex elements. No prior technical or software skills are required.

The 3-week course in photography starts with basic knowledge of the camera; the different styles, characteristics and functions. Through practical experience and outdoor shooting participants explore the most interesting parts of the city for inspiration, while at same time investigate different types of photography including for example lifestyle, reportage, portrait, nature or architecture. Participants are encouraged to experiment and be creative, but they are also taught to think of each project with a clear aesthetic purpose or motivation. During the course they will expand their repertoire of techniques as well as looking at conventional and unconventional sources of light and shadow.

Participants will also approach some practical exercises in the studio and graphic layout that will help build on the communication of individual work. Using basic techniques in digital manipulation and editing, participants will be guided to present their work in a photo book. Over the course of the 3 weeks, with a fun and explorative approach to study, participants have the opportunity to sharpen their technical and creative skills and expand their portfolio with a individual approach also in layout and composition.
