Marcel Wanders is one of the most influential designers on the international design scene. He has redefined the language of product and furniture design through an approach that combines innovation, craftsmanship and imagination.

In 2001 he co-founded design and lifestyle brand Moooi of which he is still Creative Director. Marcel Wanders was born in 1963 in the Netherlands and now lives in Milan.

His work is distinguished by its ability to transform objects into meaningful experiences that evoke emotion, tell stories and create a dialogue with people. For Marcel Wanders, functionality is the starting point of good design; its true value lies in its ability to inspire, surprise and create meaning.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with some of the world's most prestigious brands, including Alessi, Baccarat, Bisazza, Cappellini, Fendi Casa, Flos, KLM, Louis Vuitton, Puma and Roche Bobois, creating products, interiors and installations that have helped shape contemporary design. His work is held in the permanent collections of some of the world's leading museums, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

Through the IM Mentorship Programme at Istituto Marangoni Milano Design, Marcel Wanders will share his expertise and creative vision with students, encouraging them to explore new design perspectives and to see design as a cultural language, a driver of innovation and a powerful tool for creating meaningful experiences.

IM Mentorship Programme

The IM Mentorship Programme is the flagship initiative of Istituto Marangoni Milano Design.

Through direct engagement with some of the most influential figures in the international design industry, the programme offers students a unique learning experience by involving them in real-world projects that foster meaningful connections with the industry, strengthen their design expertise and provide valuable visibility within the sector.

Marcel Wanders, designer, art director and one of the leading voices in contemporary design, will mentor students from the Master's Programme in Product & Furniture Design, guiding them through the development of a project centred on research, experimentation and creative thinking.

Working on a dedicated brief, students will be encouraged to develop ideas, methodology and critical thinking while engaging with one of the most influential figures in international design and gaining first-hand insight into the realities of professional practice.
