The protagonists of the first two editions of I’M Alumni Collections Revolution - Istituto Marangoni’s project that promotes its talented Alumni - present their collections on the catwalk of Dominicana Moda 2018. Armando Costa and Tianyi Li will showcase their creations on October 24 within one of the most prestigious events in Central America. An important occasion for the young talents and, respectively, alumni of Istituto Marangoni Milano and London, who, after the interests gained by the press and industry during the fashion show powered by I’M Alumni Collections Revolution, will bring once again their collections in front of an international audience. Less than two months from her debut at the Milano Fashion Week, Tianyi Li presents her womenswear S/S 19 collection - Light & Space - in Santo Domingo. Her collection explores the concept of light, space and movement, with unusual cuts, uneven surfaces and natural folds. The inspiration can be found on Lucio Fontana’s art and that of paper engineers Richard Sweeney and Matt Shlian. Armando Costa is the first alumnus to be selected in 2017 by Istituto Marangoni to be supported in the design, production and trade of his first womenswear collection - Horror Vacui - presented during the Milan Fashion Week. The new menswear collection, which will be on the catwalk at Dominicana Moda, recalls the merging of two realms which appear to be antithetical: the USA and Japan. For the making of this collection, Armando collaborated with the brand 8IGB. A dialogue between the two brands that is based on the … of the West consumerism’s clichés, sublimed by oriental spiritual symbols. Istituto Marangoni’s dedication to promoting talent and creativity is confirmed as well by the partnership with the ‘Ministerio de Educación Superior, Cienca y Tecnologia’ (MESCYT), sponsoring a total of ten to the best Dominican students this year too who will receive a scholarship to study in Italy at Istituto Marangoni Milano or Firenze.
