Behind the Seams: Revealing the Creative Process
Istituto Marangoni Paris opened the doors of its ateliers for Behind the Seams, an exhibition unveiling the creative process behind the final garment — from initial sketch to prototype, from fabric experimentation to the finished look. The exhibition highlighted the research, experimentation, and craftsmanship that define the Fashion Design programmes. Guests were invited to explore the stages of development, gaining insight into the trials, transformations, and technical savoir-faire that shape each collection. We were honoured to welcome distinguished guests from Crash Magazine, Givenchy, Chanel, CLO3D, alongside tutors, alumni, and students from across the school. Their presence reinforced the strong connections between Istituto Marangoni Paris and the fashion industry.

This special event forms part of Istituto Marangoni Paris’ 20th Anniversary celebrations, marking two decades of design education rooted in heritage, savour-faire and innovation. It reflects the School’s commitment to nurturing emerging talents while preserving the rigorous processes that underpin contemporary fashion. The exhibition also featured MA Fashion Design student works developed through the industry project with PATOU, showcasing the dialogue between academic research and professional collaboration.
This partnership provided students with the opportunity to confront real-world creative challenges while maintaining their experimental approach. Behind the Seams offered a valuable platform for our BA and MA Fashion Design students to share creativity in motion — revealing not only the finished garments, but the thinking, testing, and craftsmanship that bring them to the real fashion world.
