Join Istituto Marangoni London for a special 4-week short course in collaboration with top fashion designer John Richmond to explore the fascinating world and creative process of fashion. Participants will study, through practical and theoretical lessons, key aspects of the creation process, such as: finding your own inspiration through research, represent and present your ideas and concepts through digital illustration (acquiring basic notions of Adobe Photoshop), collection development, how to identify trends and markets, as well as how to carefully select fabrics and materials. In the first two weeks of the course, participants will start with digital drawing lessons and will be introduced to the main processes and steps necessary in putting together a successful fashion collection, including: silhouette and shape, color charts, fabrics and materials, appropriate commercial considerations, plus an in-depth focus on current trends and market developments. In weeks 3 and 4, participants will be able to elaborate further on their digital material and put into practice notions learned, bringing all aspects together to formulate and visually communicate convincing creative ideas. As part of the mentorship from John Richmond to the course, participants will be asked to plan and develop a proposal for a contemporary capsule collection, imagined for one of the Richmond brand existing branches. They will finally present their collection to tutors for a constructive feedback on the activities undertaken. All throughout the course, participants will also have the unique chance to attend Masterclasses delivered by John Richmond himself, that will provide them relevant insights and highlights on key themes such as: • From concept to collection: a roadmap • Transform and adapt your own creative process • Develop your unique style identity
