Istituto Marangoni alumnus Mahmut Agac wins the ‘A’Design Award’ in the Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design category 2016-2017 at the A’Design designers contest with M’agnolia, an extendable briefcase inspired by the flower which symbolises nobility, perseverance, and love of nature. The A’Design Award & Competition is a worldwide design contest aimed at promoting designers and design oriented companies, channelling the attention of press, media and buyers to the award winner. The A’ Design Awards are awarded annually in a wide range of design categories, which range from exhibition design to furniture, packaging and visual communication design, just to mention the most popular. This year, 1958 winners have been awarded from 98 countries in 97 different design disciplines. Istituto Marangoni former Luxury Accessories Design & Management student Mahmut Agac was one of the talented designers rewarded in the Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design category. Agac’s winning design project is M’AGNOLIA, an expandable briefcase for men intended as a combination of versatility and design. Two objects into one: a comfortable bag for daily use and a design object skillfully taken care of down to the smallest detail. The material chosen was a PVC-coated cotton structure enriched with a meaningful pattern: the graphic rendering of a Magnolia flower at sunset, including the shades which convey a strong message related to the passage of time. Mahmut Agac is a young Turkish designer with outstanding experience in Fashion from both the creative and business perspectives. He completed a Master’s degree in Fashion Design Menswear at Istituto Marangoni Milano in 2014 and then decided to further specialize in Luxury    Accessories Design & Management with another master’s course, once again at Istituto Marangoni. He has collaborated with Berluti footwear brand as a pattern designer for VIP customers and as a menswear designer for Italian luxury brand Araldi 1930. In 2015 he was the winner of the Menswear Award upon his successful completion of the Master’s programme organized by Istituto Marangoni in collaboration with Ermenegildo Zegna.
