At its 56th edition now, as every year the Salone del Mobile exhibition in Milano is ready to welcome the best of Made in Italy furniture and design. Istituto Marangoni takes part in the event with a rich programme of initiatives to provide a framework and offer visibility to the projects carried out by its students in collaboration with leading design firms. As part of the much anticipated Milan Design Week, scheduled for April 4-9, 2017, the International Furniture Fair will take place in the exhibition area of Rho Fiera Milano, including also the stands of Salone Satellite, a meeting place for entrepreneurs-talent scouts and emerging designers, in addition to a number of places around the city dedicated to the Fuori Salone activities. Istituto Marangoni will welcome visitors in the reception area of pavilions 6/10 of the fair, in a space designed by Cappellini design company. On display, here, is "Touch your voice. 3d printing and interactive sound customization", a project developed in collaboration with Sharebot, leading Italian manufacturer of professional 3D printers, under the coordination of Professor and designer Sergio Nava. Thanks to a leading edge software technology, the interface shapes objects in real time starting from words, emotions and feelings. Among the projects carried out by Product Design students throughout the year, the exhibition will also feature the insightful Alma work desk designed by IM Alumna Pamela Amine for Giorgetti, historic Italian company specializing in high quality furniture. Amine will share the exhibition space with the future designers of Istituto Marangoni Design School, as students of the Surface and Textile Design Master’s course will present three textile tapestries designed for and in collaboration with manufacturing textile company Bonotto. Also Salone Satellite, whose 20th edition this year is on the theme "DESIGN is ...?" will host Istituto Marangoni in one of its creative stands. Coordinated again by Sergio Nava and in partnership with Sharebot, 4 promising Alumni of the School - Matteo Agati, Terence Coton, Gustavo Martini and Giulio Masciocchi – are showcasing the collective "Prisma Project", based on the use of the state-of-the-art OLED technology and 3D-print graphene structures. As part of a collaboration between Istituto Marangoni and Amazon, the above mentioned four young talents have also designed personal capsule collections for furniture and other household items to be exclusively featured on Amazon.it, within the Young Designer Store section. Throughout the entire duration of Salone del Mobile, it is possible to view the items for sale, all limited editions, but also learn more about the designers and pre-order the products through the use of tablets made available to visitors. On the second floor of the school, creativity will be protagonist. With the project 3Dynamic vision, a classroom will become an atelier where a student of the School of Design from the Home Collection Master’s Course, Vesna Krsmanovic, will create some paintings. "Istituto Marangoni is preparing for this year's Design Week with projects that are intended to stimulate thinking about the future and new ways of illustrating projects," said Massimo Zanatta, School Director of Istituto Marangoni School of Design "Working with innovation-conscious, world-class companies provided a significant incentive to question ourselves on new topics and new design possibilities."
