Designs by Istituto Marangoni’s students were selected as the centrepiece of celebrations for the sixtieth anniversary of a leading Italian company.
Six students of the master’s course in Italian Product Design were asked to produce a washbasin that would symbolize the stylish bathroom fittings of the Ceramica Flaminia, renowned for quality, research and innovation.
Two works were selected for the company’s collection. “Ritho” by the Brazilian student, Gustavo Martini, was inspired by the contrast between the urban environment and the natural landscape, while “Salto d’acqua” by Hsiang Heng Hsiao from Taiwan portrayed the bathroom as a place to reflect and find inner peace.
The winning designs went on display at Ceramica Flaminia’s showroom on 10 September, along with the work of the other students, Gaia Fodoulian, Marina Camicado, Terence Coton and Mahendran Shivram, during the “Laviamoci le mani” (Let’s wash our hands) exhibition.
Cristina Morozzi, Director of Education at the Istituto Marangoni’s School of Design, said: “Collaborating with Ceramica Flaminia was a unique opportunity for our students to work closely with an Italian company known for excellence and research.”
This collaboration reveals that the holistic approach of our master’s course is definitely winning and brings to the best projects of tomorrow industrial products.
