Istituto Marangoni opens its UAE school with a flourish by staging a phygital fashion show at Dubai’s Museum of the Future.

After a grand ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 30, Istituto Marangoni topped off its recent Dubai opening with a revolutionary event on September 12, 2022.

In line with Istituto Marangoni innovative approach, the Talents Show took place simultaneously at The Museum of the Future and in the Metaverse. Real models were joined on the catwalk by their avatars, resulting in a revolutionary event that combined tradition and innovation and where reality and virtual reality coexisted.

The catwalk featured the works of the 5 best graduates from Istituto Marangoni’s Milan, Florence, Paris, London and Shanghai Fashion Design courses. The graduates had the opportunity to display to an international audience the fashion collections that they entirely ideated and created thanks to the tools acquired along their studying journey at Istituto Marangoni.

For the Fashion Show finale models walked with 8 selected pieces from Rahul Mishra’s collection.  One of Istituto Marangoni’s most renowned Alumni and the first Indian designer to showcase at the Paris Haute Couture Week. Rahul paid homage to the school bringing on the catwalk some of his creations that combine the ancient Indian clothing design tradition with the modern fashion luxury industry, with a sustainable, ethical, ‘slow fashion’ approach.

Speaking at the event Stefania Valenti, Managing Director- Istituto Marangoni, said, “It’s an honour to celebrate the opening of Istituto Marangoni Dubai at the Museum of the Future, and with the warm endorsement of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Her Excellency Noura Bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, and in this Museum where our immersive experience found its perfect space.” 

“Today’s Talents Fashion Show has been a showcase of what Istituto Marangoni students can achieve after three years studying with us. With the opening of our school in Dubai we are giving to the local aspiring fashion and interior designers the opportunity to acquire all the skills and knowledge required to start their careers.

Bridging Western and Eastern cultures, Italian design excellence and the rich local heritage, Istituto Marangoni Dubai will offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate Fashion and Design programmes set to commence on September 19.
